Peel Police Launch 2025 Seasonal RIDE
Program
Last updated: Dec 1, 2025
Peel Regional Police has kicked off the 2025 Seasonal RIDE (Reduce
Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign, once again partnering with MADD
Canada to promote safe, sober driving throughout the holiday season. The
campaign runs November 15 to December 31 and includes enhanced roadside
enforcement across the region.
In addition to alcohol-related impaired driving, officers continue to
address the growing challenges posed by drug impairment, including cannabis and
poly-drug use. Specialized training, new detection tools, and
cross-disciplinary collaboration allow Peel Police to adapt to emerging public
safety concerns such as the opioid crisis and changing legislation.
Drivers are reminded that impaired driving, whether by alcohol, cannabis,
or any other substance, is illegal, dangerous, and entirely preventable. Peel
Police encourage everyone to plan ahead, use a designated driver or rideshare,
and call 911 if they suspect someone is driving impaired.
Quick Facts
Last year’s RIDE campaign
resulted in 131 impaired driving charges, 85 warn-range
suspensions, and inspections of over 12,000 vehicles.
During the first weekend of this
year’s program, officers checked more than 700 vehicles and laid five
impaired-driving charges.
As of October 31, Peel Police has
already laid 787 impaired driving charges in 2025.
A Message from MADD Canada
“Impaired driving is NOT an accident—it is a choice, and it devastates
families. Please plan ahead for a safe way home. Together, we can all have a
safe and happy holiday season.” — Dawn Regan, COO, MADD Canada
